About Modern Life Planning

Planning for longer lives, changing careers, and the people who depend on you.

Modern Life Planning was created for people who want practical guidance before they make major financial, protection, and retirement decisions.

Why Modern Life Planning exists

Families are living longer. Careers are changing more often. People are supporting children, aging parents, businesses, employees, and future versions of themselves at the same time. The old model of school, work, retire, and hope everything works out does not fit real life anymore.

Modern Life Planning is built around a simple idea: financial decisions should match the life you are actually building. That means planning for protection, income, retirement, family needs, business continuity, health-related risks, and the unexpected changes that happen across a longer life.

The goal is not to overwhelm people with financial jargon. The goal is to help them understand what they are protecting, what they are planning for, and what choices may fit their stage of life.

Farzin Espahani is a growth operator, marketplace leader, and regulated-market executive with more than 15 years of experience across healthcare, insurance, Medicare, digital marketing, partnerships, and business development.

Before founding Modern Life Planning, Farzin served as General Manager, Health & Medicare Insurance at QuinStreet, a public company operating in digital performance marketing and consumer acquisition. He led strategy, P&L, partner relationships, compliance-aware growth, and cross-functional execution across a regulated insurance marketplace — working with carriers, brokers, agencies, publishers, and internal product, analytics, and operations teams.

Earlier in his career, Farzin held senior marketing and growth roles at Health IQ, Circa Interactive, Solution21, and American Medical Media. At American Medical Media, he co-founded and helped scale The Patient's Guide, a network of healthcare education and patient acquisition websites later acquired by IAC Publishing.

His approach to planning is shaped by his education in human behavior, social systems, and decision-making. He earned a Master of Arts in Biocultural Anthropology with a focus on Human Behavioral Ecology from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a focus on Social Psychology. He also completed executive education programs through Northwestern Kellogg, MIT Sloan, Wharton, and Cornell.

A planning philosophy shaped by real experience

People do not make financial decisions in a vacuum. They make them inside families, careers, businesses, health concerns, aging timelines, emotions, obligations, and tradeoffs. Good planning should respect that reality. Farzin's background in regulated markets, consumer decision-making, and marketplace economics shaped a planning style focused on transparency, trust, and long-term credibility.

Inspired by the 100-year-life mindset

Many people are no longer planning for a short, predictable retirement after one long career. A longer life can mean more transitions, more responsibility, and more opportunity — changing careers, starting a business, supporting adult children, helping aging parents, retiring gradually, or continuing to work because staying active and useful matters. That kind of life needs a different planning mindset.

01

What happens to my family if my income stops?

02

How do I protect the people who depend on me?

03

How do I plan for retirement if my career may not follow a straight line?

04

How do I think about long-term care, health-related costs, and aging?

05

How do I protect a business, a partner, or a key employee?

06

How do I make financial decisions today without locking myself into a plan that no longer fits?

Who we help

Families planning ahead

Parents, couples, and households that want to protect income, prepare for the future, and make sure the people they love are not left exposed.

Professionals building wealth and protection

People in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who are growing income, managing career changes, buying homes, raising families, and starting to think more seriously about retirement.

Business owners and entrepreneurs

Founders, owners, and self-employed professionals who need to think about income protection, succession, key person risk, business continuity, and family security.

People entering their next chapter

Individuals and families facing a major life transition — a career change, marriage, children, retirement planning, caregiving, business ownership, or a shift in financial priorities.

How we work

01

Understand your current picture

We look at where you are today, what you already have in place, and what has changed in your life.

02

Clarify what matters most

We identify the people, income, assets, business interests, and future plans you want to protect.

03

Review practical options

We explain available paths in plain language so you can compare choices without getting lost in financial jargon.

04

Build a plan you can act on

We help turn the conversation into clear next steps — whether the need is life insurance, retirement income, protection, business planning, or ongoing guidance.

05

Adjust as life changes

Planning should not be frozen in time. As your family, career, business, and goals change, your planning should be reviewed and adjusted.

Your life may not follow a straight line. Your planning should be built for that.

If you are raising a family, building a career, running a business, or preparing for the next chapter — start with a clear conversation.
